Since my Canon 7D is not just a great camera…
I have been working on building up Wellington Expressive Arts Trust for the last year with my friend and collaborator Kaly Newman. We have done some one off workshops but I am pleased to announce that our 6 week workshop on Wellness through Creativity for women will begin in a couple of weeks at Newtown Community Centre!
Here are the Details:
Wellness through Creativity – a 6 week workshop series for Women
Wellington Expressive Arts Collective uses a variety of Arts – based activities (drama, poetry, visual arts, dance, movement, and music) to encourage personal growth and development. By engaging in the creative process, an individual develops the ability to understand and express their feelings, expand their self-awareness and imagination, and discovers their own creative nature. There is a growing body of evidence that supports the belief that participating in the arts and creativity can have a profoundly healing and empowering effect on the health and well-being of an individual.
Wellington Expressive Arts Collective have created a workshop series comprised of six sessions. Each session has a theme but as a whole they help participants create wellness goals. The themes are Trust, Self-Identity, Body Confidence, Culture and Community and Moving Forward. The workshops have been developed with input from therapists to ensure that they are safe for women who have experienced trauma.
